Seed Grants

As CILT reaches the end of its final year of funding, the CILT Seed Grant Program is officially closed. No new funds will be distributed.

For the past five years CILT has set aside a portion of our grant allocation to fund promising new projects. Seed grants in the amount of $6,000 - $15,000 were available to initiate cross-institutional collaboration in areas important to the learning technology field. CILT community members applied for these funds jointly with other members who had similar interests and synergistic talents. Seed projects were typically initial proof-of-concept efforts that led to more substantial funding from other sources. CILT has funded 60 seed grants involving approximately 169 institutions for a total of $617,369.

This Web site describes each of CILT's 1998, 1999, 2000, and 2002 seed grants. In the spirit of community development seed grant recipients have agreed to make their products public, and many are posted here, including tools, reports, and links to project Web sites.
